You are much more than your scars
My career has been out of the ordinary from the very beginning.

After I graduated as a clinical psychologist in Italy, I undertook an academic career for almost ten years working in Sweden and Germany. During this time, I contributed to scientific articles about self-injury. I researched the emotions tied to it and the difficulties to live a full life for those who self-injure, as well as for their loved ones. In all those years, the passion for helping people who directly and indirectly struggle with self-injury has always driven my work.
Although I carried out my research work with enthusiasm and interest, I always had the feeling that something was missing: that is, the chance to help people who struggle in their daily life. I realized that I wanted more from my career, and this need to generate a real change in people’s life brought me to a career shift.
I started sharing important facts about self-injury on social media. I hold online seminars where I try to debunk some myths about self-injury. Here, I provide effective strategies on how to exit the vicious cycle of self-injury and give guidance to parents or partners on how to best support a loved one who engages in this behavior.
The recovery path from self-injury is not linear, and it usually has a lot of bumps on the road. By providing support I hope to make the journey to recovery a little easier.
